That's DEFINITELY true. Don't spend a DIME until you've done a lot of reading...at least a month's worth.
Then pick a path and stick with it. That's where most people fall down.
I agree 110% with what Andrew said. I spend a lot of time reading blogs, commenting on blogs, and posting on forums.
I don't consider it some spammy trick to get visitors to my blog. I consider it good networking.
You can't sit in your little hole and expect the traffic to just magically...
Patience, grasshopper. It took me several months to make my first sale. Once the momentum builds, however, it will be hard to stop.

You could also search around and find some blogs and forums that are relevant to your topic and leave helpful or insightful comments & posts. This could give you some nice one-way backlinks to your site...if the blogs are "do-follow" blogs.

That's a good point...and one that I have been preaching all along. Ebay didn't really get hurt (much) by this. It's the other affiliates who got stiffed that really felt the blow.
