A Forum Suggestion...

[Affiliate Classroom]

Hey Guys,

What about a forum that is "goal oriented" - where we can come and officially ANNOUNCE a goal we have. Then track our progress on that thread?

This way others can view in and encourage and offer help as we go...

I had seen this done well on another "self help" type forum and am planning on implementing it into the AC forum as well...

What do you think?

Also: I have looked at a couple of the guru forums to get a better feel for affiliate marketing ... there is no reason for this forum not to top them all.

Yeap, I'm launching one at the AC forum as well. Our forum has been slowing down a bit so I want to get that up as well.

A competition sounds like a great idea. I was thinking about doing something similar at our forum as well.

Thanks so much Mike. People have told me for years I should start my own forum instead of posting so much in everyone elses. Well I'm slow so didn't get around to starting this one until July. So this forum is a BABY - brand new really compared to the other affiliate forums out there. We have blessed with fast growth and a really positive member base so I'm thrilled with our progress.

My goal - speaking of goals - is to give this forum the attention it deserves and really build it up. Thats part of why I added you and Teli to my team. I am also giving my resignation at some of the other forums I mod, so I can focus most of my energy here from now on.

CONTESTS I love contests and have no problem putting money into a contest. But I will tell you my main goal for this forum right now and maybe you guys can help me think of a way to structure the contest.

We have lots of people viewing the forums all the time, reading and getting the benefit of all the great info here without logging in or joining. You notice at the bottom there are typically lots viewing but only 1 - 3 members logged in. I would like to convert more lurkers and lookers into active logged on and posting members. Last night I played with forum settings and made it so you can't read threads unless you are logged in - but I think that would cut down participation instead of increasing it. Any contest ideas to help us achieve this goal???

How about this: This forum signs up for a program and whoever makes the best posts gets the monthly check, something like that. Getting more enthusiastic visitors that way and good competition. Or create an extra adsense channel ... something ... just a thought

Thats actually a very interesting idea - how do you determine the check winner though? As objectively as possible?

I like the idea of a goal forum - posting the goals in the forum helps to create accountability and will drive more people to achieve them - it's one of the reasons I decided to post some of my monthly goals to my blog (though I'm late this month LOL).

As for requiring registration to read threads, I think that may be a bit much. I would at least allow people to read the entries to see what value they can be getting out of the forum.

To promote participation, I would encourage people to ask questions or offer services, prizes, and like mentioned - have a monthly winner.

Something like - whoever posts the best entry for the month will get (fill in the blank).

We could probably have the forum members vote, or have the forum members submit threads and the mods vote - or line up a panel of judges.

* I also notice that when someone receives a reply to a thread, it contains the actual response in the e-mail. Instead, make it so they have to come back to the site to read the response and respond.

Maybe we will all vote for best post or best overall poster ... or how about "most helpful member". They say you become billionaire by creating millionaires. How about something where your goal needs to be coaching others make more cash And all members vote on who they thought has helped them the most in achieving their goals. Damn I'm good

What would really be great is to set up a conference call on the phone so we can all talk and brainstorm some ideas that would help us all - not just this forum. I think the 4 of us have the makings for a DYNAMIC mastermind group!
(I have actually been wanting to do an affiliate brainstorming conference calls for awhile and also thinking of setting up live chat too.)

I'm way buried today launching 2 new affiliate programs and finishing my newsletter. I'll make Anik a mod and set up a private mod forum so we can talk in private here without all the lurker lookie loos.

Shawn Collins just sent out his Affiliate Summit newsletter to around 3,000 promoting this forum, plus I just blogged about RSS datafeeds and told everyone to come here and weigh in so we should be getting extra visitors today.
