A question about Facebook Ads' estimated sales

Hi guys, I'm a bit confused by Facebook ad's estimated sales feature.

I recently created a campaign promoting an ecommerce product. I created 5 ad sets. I plan to spend $20 per adset during the testing phase.

I looked at one of my adsets and Facebook says that it's estimated that I'll get 4 purchases after spending only $20 on that adset.

What is that number based off?

From my experience, the vast majority of adsets get turned off due to the fact that they're not profitable.

Where does Facebook come up with this projected sales figure? Is it actually possible to get 4 sales after spending only $20 for that adset?

Thanks

What is that number based off?
  1. Zuck's hopes and dreams /s
  2. Aggregated data base in your categorization of the ad's type of sale item.
  3. An overview estimation based on all ads (all categories) reported sale results.
With -0- transparency there is no way to assess the accuracy of that "Facebook ad's estimated sales feature" other than your own unique experiences. I vote for #1 hopes and dreams :D
