Affiliate Marketing Versus Drop Shipping?

Been in Affiliate marketing for many years and just finished studying Digital Marketing at a European College and have learned so much! Even studying DM I was really surprised how much I had learned by myself working as an Affiliate.

But times have changed and want to upscale to starting an Online Store, the easiest way to start would be Drop shipping so I can learn what works and what doesn't before I invest in importing products.

Has anyone else tried drop shipping?
Do you have any tips?
Anyone recommend a trusted drop shipping directory?
