Istanbul, are you talking of book of the year 2007 or book to look out for in 2008? Interesting I have not heard of any of the books, I am sure Eric would, he is our resident book specialist :)

'Making money' by Terry Pratchett. it is NOT a self help book it is a book set in discworld, a world that sits on top a a giant turtle that travels through space on top of 4 giant elephants.

If you are not aware of TP, then do yourself a favour and read some of his stuff. The first in the series is the colour of magic.

Sadly, TP has just been diagnosed with Alzheimers, so it is unlikely he will be able to complete his latest book, the final part of the Moist Von Lipwig trilogy (going postal and making money being the first two).

Anyone else read pratchett?

I have heard a lot about Terry Pratchett and his wacky books but I am yet to ready any of his books, perhaps its time to read one as a new year resolution.
My favorite book last year year was The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. I am yet to read any book this year :(

That will be because we are only 3 days into the year Temi :D

Well, you will be surprised how many some bookworms have already read, my wife has read on book she is on the second and my daughter has read one harry potter in 2008.

Ok I admit it I have read secret garden secret window by Steven King, also the Library policement by Steven king, and half of making money by TP so far this year :cray:

My daughter started her second book this morning, with the above list of books you have read this year already I feel like and illetrate, I think I must find a few books to read, I cannot possible catch up with OWG but I will try and catch up with my daugher, she is only a few pages into the second book.

Not worthy OWG :kneeled:

Nah two of the Steven king books were reall short stories, one was 250 pages the other about 300 ish.

I am done with having to read books on coding and the like now so can read for fun again LOL

Yes, one tends to get time for reading for pleasure again once you stop reading IT books, they are usually hundreds of pages and everything you just read will become obsolete in the next 4-6 months and you have to read another one yet again :(

I'm thinking of starting a "wish list" on one of my sites, where ppl can buy me a book
on my wish list for Amazon.com :scared:

So, I saw somebody mentioned my name here :)

Just to give you an idea of what reading really is...look at this readinglist from 1 of the members of my forum :

Wat heb je gelezen in 2007?

It's in Dutch...but everybody can understand the names of the authors and...the total number of books !

I mentioned your name Eric, I was windering how many books you have read this year so far (considering that today is 5th of January) my Daughter has read 2, My wife read 1, I read 0 :(

The guy in your forum, is that a list of the books he read last year or this year? I cannot possible be this year, its 61 books

I read 1.5 till now :)
The guy, who actually is a girl ;) read those books last year... 61 books in 52 weeks...and I can assure you it are not 3-pages books :)

Last year I read about 30...spend much time on forums ;)

I read a total of 8 books last year, mainly from the psychology section, they are non fiction books. Particularly like jodi picoult books.

Here are a few good reads.
The burn journals is good.
UGLY
A Child Called It
Harry Potter
Prozac Nation
The Little Prisoner

My wife is a prolific reader. She will read a novel in 2-3 days. then again she has a life of luxury as she doesn't work LOL

why is harry potter not on that list? best book evar!

I can't say I'm into modern books, I went to an amazing bookshop a few weeks ago and got some great old books for 30p each! brilliant!

I saw the hogfather over christmas and I thought it was fantastic. I've read a few of TP books but only a few chapters of each I'm not very good at finishing books I get bored easily!
