Is there a way I as a publisher approach advertisers and say I will provide the banner on any promo they will nominate and I will monitor it and they can monitor it as well. Basically I would be the Publisher and middleman I guess?
It maybe lame, but you could list such an offer on eBay. Even if you are not getting paid, you are generating traffic from the curious, as well as a link from a major website. I've listed a few, only sold one. But I also did not offer any monitoring service.
I've also had companies reach out to me asking for a text link with specific text to be used within content for a flat rate. Of those offers I think only one has ever actually gone to completion with me getting paid. A lot of them I think were just automated offers & after a review the site &/or content wasn't as attractive as they had hoped.
There are many websites that cut out the middleman and talk directly to advertisers, I think affiliatefix also does that. but the problem is you have to negotiate with each advertiser separately while using an ad network saves you a lot of time and they have much more advertisers.

They are acceptable for a vendor listing, but not for the member email. This is due to bulk email processors scrubbing them for delivery due to extremely high bounce rates.
