The first thing that came to my mind is the fact that you could take weeks/months to become ranked in Google and then all of a sudden your hard work get's deleted from the search engine.
If that's definitely what you want to do, blogging + affiliation. Then I recommend you to check out your competitors websites and see how they do it, this would give you an idea/base on where to start and go from there
