Can't see Google.com :(

Has Google gone mad with the go IP thing or is it just me. I cannot see www.google.com any more even is I type it into my browser I an automatically taken to www.google.co.uk despite setting my Google toolbar to search with Google.com how the hell can I search with google.com ?

if you type in google.com, you will be directed to google.co.uk, at this point type in google.com again and it should allow you to view it there.

That still did not work in IE, however I set google tool bar in FF to www.google.com and I was able to view it that way, thanks for you help.

It has worked for me every time. Are you typing google.com into the actual address bar when at google.co.uk?

Anyhow, sorry to say, but you will see different results at both .co.uk world & .com site, as Google is geo weighting its results these days.

yeah i nticed that too. at least ebay asks you that when you type in ebay.com which site do you want to go to the US or UK one!

The google UK ad google.com resultsd are slightly different as well.

you will get geo delivered results based on your location. a search on google.co.uk 'worldwide' will give different results to google.com One of the two reasons apply, either:-
a) non uk physically located sites are being scroed down slightly
b) UK physically located results are being scroed up slightly.

It is impossible to know which as the effect is the same,for this reason I have given the both possibilities as I do not want to state something as fact when I don't know that it is .

What IS fact however is that Uk PHYSICALLY LOCATED sites (I have bolded this because we are talking physical IP location not physical server location. Your server can be in a London telehouse, but if the IP resolves to the US, then you are physically located in the US). UK Physically located sites are taking the place on non uk PL sites in a world search on google.co.uk.
