Difference between SEO and PPC

They are different.

SEO is what do to your web site to gain, what is called, Organic Traffic (people find you through the search engines). You are optimizing your site using the META tags on each page (title, description, and keywords) and sprinkling your keywords throughout your page.

PPC (Pay Per Click) is an avenue for instant traffic. You're working through Google Adsense, the Yahoo Search Network, and/or Microsoft's Adcenter to bid on keywords to drive certain traffic to your site.

PPC is harder to master than SEO, but will give you quicker results.

Also, SEO is for general web sites, while PPC is specifically to make sales via landing pages, squeeze pages, etc. You want to get a good ROI (Return on Investment) when you're spending your hard-earned dollars on PPC.

Hope that sheds some light for you. ;)

I know this might be a little elementary, but what is the main difference between SEO and PPC? Do you consider PPC to be part of SEO?

To answer your Q: SEO and PPC is completely different.

PPC is advertising you are paying for on a per click basis. You can start today, pay money, and get targeted traffic immediately.

SEO takes alot of work for onsite as well as offsite optimization. If you are doing a good job on SEO you will get a lot of organic traffic sent from the search engines. Once you are ranked high for organic searched on your keywords you will experience a lot of traffic that is pretty much FREE!!!

Hope this helps.

...very basic question. PPC is adwords, etc., SEO is all about natural listing. With SEO your profit will be always much bigger compared to PPC except if you are noob in SEO. (let's say you get $30,000 from SEO, maybe you only need to spend $2K which means your profit is $28K. But if you get $50,000 from PPC, maybe you spend $40,000 which means you still get better income from SEO)

Seo is Optimizing your website to Organic Serch Results.
PPC is Paid Advertising which is listing along with organic Results.

Main difference...You can pay SE for your ad spot (PPC), but you can't pay SE for your organic SERP position (SEO).

However, SEO and PPC both come with monetary costs - PPC cost is just much easier to quantify due to its nature.

I want to point out the similarity between the two.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is done on-site and off-site, to get your page ranked in the natural listings.

Pay Per Click (PPC) is paid advertising, but if you want to spend as little as possible on each click, you need to also use SEO.

A part of on-site SEO is putting your targeted keywords in the content of your webpage. Specifically the title and first few paragraphs. If you make sure to have these targeted keywords in your content, then they will be cheaper for you in PPC. If you are bidding on keywords that are not in the content of your page, they will be more expensive for you than another page that does have those keywords.

So, SEO is also important for PPC.

Search Engine Marketing & SEO Forum

PPC is an Internet advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks and content Websites, such as blogs, where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an advertisement to visit the advertisers' Website.
Where as SEO is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via natural or organic search results. :)

I know this might be a little elementary, but what is the main difference between SEO and PPC? Do you consider PPC to be part of SEO?

PPC refers to a sponsored results which means that the website pays the search engine whenever users click through to their website through a sponsored link. Contrary to this, SEO refers to free results. So there is no direct cost for getting this ranked listing.

PPC is more like traditional advertising you pay to be shown in the search engine listings for specific keyword phrases while SEO is more like public relations. You cannot buy publicity for your site, you have to work for it by undertaking specific techniques and strategies.
