Dmoz is one of the most respected directory's on the net or at least was, most people are saying its not worth the hassle any more but Dmoz share there database with lot of other site which means when they update you instantly get alot of good backlinks.

Plus its free unlike Yahoo Directory..

DMOZ is "The Directory" so a listing in DMOZ will give you the following and more

1. You get a free lifetime link from DMOZ
2. Google imports the contents of Google Directory from DMOZ so you are automatically listed in Google directory
3. Litterally HUNDREDS of small directories imports contents from DMOZ so you get listing in hundreds of diretories free
4. I think Google search and Yahoo searh trust your site more as the assume and independent editor (at DMOZ) has checked out yoursite to ensure it cool before its listed

That is just a few of the big deals, and all this above for FREEEEE

dmoz is very important.if your site is added there, everyday you get free backlinks from directories or other sites.because sites use dmoz database.

Temi told: "1. You get a free lifetime link from DMOZ"

but i think they ara not lifetime.for example, this was a simple photo gallery: tennis pictures (free host).it was mine and listed in dmoz.but i changed the content after listing on dmoz, and they deleted the link your content should remain nice.editors checks the links.

i do not add my sites because our Turkish editor is a real idiot.i think he has not got a brain.and webmasters tell here that he adds his or his friends sites at dmoz.i have a site: voleyboltr.com. it is one of the best 3 voleybol(volleyball) sites in Turkish(one of them is offical site) but the idiot editor does not add my link.

Yes,
If you do not change the contens your site will be there for life, if you change the contents or peole report your site that it does not contain what it was approved for then your site will be removed natuarally.

Also I have two of my sites that has been added to DMOZ without me submitting the sites to DMOZ
