Facebook for Wordpress

Hi Everyone!

I'm having a little bit of trouble that I was hoping someone could help me out with. I recently started using wordpress for my website. I have done fairly well, considering I don't know much; it seems to be pretty user friendly. BUT I am having trouble adding my facebook feed and like button to the page. I have tried several different plugins and have not found success.

So, just a few questions:

1. Once I get a code to enter in html fields, where do I put it? No matter where I enter it (following directions) it skews my template.

2. I created an App through facebook and successfully installed a SEO facebook plugin, but I don't see any difference. My page looks exactly the same and it never gave me a code to enter anywhere on the page.

I know it can't be this difficult, clearly I am doing something wrong!

Any helps is much apprecaited!

Okay--sorry about that; it took a while for me to get back on here.

Pretty much, I have gone to the plugin area and searched "Facebook" and tried install almost all of the plugins on the first page (one at a time) to try to get something to work. I did manage to get a like button to show up on my posts, but not on main page, which is where I would really like to see it.

So, I'm looking to do 2 things:

1. Have a FB like button on the header or footer of my pages, particularly the main page.
2. Have FB automatically update my page status with a link directing to my blog page when a new one is created.

I'm not looking for anything fancy, yet, for now simple will do.
