Facebook's featured image and the <img> tag

I’m looking for HTML to mark images not to be used for Facebook’s featured image.

I know about the code to be used in the <head> of the document that describes which image to be used for the featured image.

I’m looking to mark images not to be used. I believe there is an attribute you can use inside the <img /> tag that does this.

We have had this question many times over the past few years. I have never seen a true solution to this.
 
These 'tech giants' evade the robots.txt and their known IP ranges and will backdoor with cloaked bots -- I have caught them more than once doing this ... True solutions are not that realistic -- you are right.
