IT’S 9pm in Manchester city centre and it’s “harvest time” for some of Britain’s most eligible young men.
Shop girls plucked from stores such as Harvey Nichols and Selfridges line up in party frocks and newly applied make-up with former Hollyoaks actresses and beauty queen contestants – on parade to party with some of Britain’s highest-paid footballers.
The phrase “harvesting” has been coined by party organisers at nightclubs in the city to describe how girls are gathered for so-called VIP events with Manchester United footballers such as the one that ended last week with cries of “rape”.
