Hi all this is a silly question and i should probably know this but does anyone know what setting to change in Godaddy hosting to aim the main domain to a folder (not root). ?
Just to update on the tread , ive been told by their support to make a simple html file with a 301 redirect on it ! Wont this hurt my SE rankings ? i thought this was a bad idea ?
It will not hurt the SEo at all if it is a new domain, but it is NOT the way to go as it will mean it will be rejected from loads of directories. I run a headers check cron job on my directories, and if they pick up ANY redirect the page is flagged and removed!
Bait and switch is a tactic black hatters use, so not good. The simple answer is move from Go-daddy.
BUT
Why do you want a domain to point at a folder other than root? The folder where you are pointing will simply become the root for the domain? What are you trying to gain?
Basicly ive just installed a new site on a sub domain (with joomla) and dont want to purchase any full backup software to move it to the root , and i cant find any where that tells me how to move it safely im quite happy for it to be in the root but cant find how with out spending money.
If anyone could help that would be great i quite like godaddy so dont really want to move.
Cool ive found out how to move joomla from the sub folder to my root , the site will be lauched soon i will post it when for you all to see when its live
