Hi,

My name is Gerald. I've been trying my hand at learning affiliate marketing by myself, reading different courses and tutorials. I always seem to come close, but run into the trap of feeling overwhelmed by all the information available and trying to become an expert all at once on everything I needed to do before proceeding. I would eventually get frustrated and look elsewhere.

I now know a little about a lot. So, I decided to slow down a bit and relax. I am now taking it step by step trying to learn as I go and knowing that taking no action at all amounts to guaranteed failure.

I joined this forum to try and help other people with what I do know so that they don't make the same mistakes I did and to learn from others here so that I can continue to move forward.

Hi Gerald,

Welcome to 5 Star. Thanks for joining us.

It's easy to get overwhelmed but it sounds like now you have a good plan.

Be sure to check out all the stickies in the newbie forum as they are some of the best threads to read when you are getting started. They will help give you lots of ideas that have worked for other newbies and give you a better general understanding about how to get started. We don't allow anyone to try to sell you anything and we don't try to sell you anything either so it's pure good intentioned advice.

Then the most important thing for starters is picking the right niche. The newbie stickies will explain that, then go to the niche marketing forum and you will find lots of tips and tools for finding your niche.

Ask specific questions after that and we will do our best to help.

I know what you mean, Gerald. It's so easy to get distracted by all the options and not follow through on one thing. You just have to put blinders on and focus on one thing long enough to see if it's going to work for you or not, and whether you like that method or not.

Feeling overwhelmed is par for the course in this field! But you've got the right idea - just keep plugging away, step by step, and remember, you will make mistakes, but you'll learn from them.

I heard a good quote the other day - Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection ~ Mark Twain
