Not so much importance

PR was important 2 or 3 years ago, right now it doesn't hold much value in terms of seo.

But,still High Pr is considered a quality site among users.

PR is still important for several different reasons. It is a ranking factor. People argue about how much of a ranking factor it it but one things true...it still is! It is also a key factor in which of your pages enter the supplemental index and if youve got prime keyword targeted pages in the supplemental index then you need to be looking at how to increase those pages PR.

Well, PageRank is Google's assessment of the importance of a page, and
certainly Google wants to index the most importance pages first.

However, the question is too broad. For example, there are sites with high
PR that are under some sort of ranking penalty so in their case, high PR would
not help.

More important than PR is the quantity of incoming links AND the anchored
text in a page's incoming links. This is the holy grail nowadays. The internet
has grown so huge over the last few years that, in many cases,
thousands of incoming links with targeted anchors are required to rank in
the top ten for many queries.

It takes courage and creativity to accumulate the required links today.

I think PR is too much important for WebPages. So increase it with your different ways because PR is marking of google for your sites.

PR has lost relevancy in terms of google rankings.

In 2004-2205 PR used to happen monthly then quarterly and then after 5 months.

Getting a PR from 0 to straight 5 was sometimes possible with moderate link building effort.

But these days I see lot of sites with PR 3 ,1 and 0 also ranking on top.

But yes this google green line is good indicator that you are some where in the race.

I believe people also sell advertising space on page ranked websites doing it simply for advertising, something people can look into once a high page rank.
