Apparently, Dan Crow, director of crawl systems at Google, says Google is to release a new meta tag called "unavailable_after." This "unavailable_after" tag will allow a webmaster to tell Google when the Googlebot should no longer crawl a certain page. This tag could be used to give Googlebot information about pages that are online for a fixed period like special offer pages.

Do you think this tag is useful?

Yes, in certain situation it can be extremly useful: a blog post which want to pay attention to a festival for instance, and it could be a good way to eliminate the unwanted content after a seo contest as well:)

Yes this meta tag will definitely help the webmasters for managing the pages which are on the net for a shorter time span.

Any special page which is relating to the business offer for a specific time period for the business growth. This will also help removing the unwanted stuff on the net which is still online or seen after expiry.

After all this tag will be optional and may or may not be implemented by the webmasters as per there views or it's their will to use it or not, as other meta tag are used by the webmasters.

Accordingly this will help the community of internet and serve the purpose.

I do a lot of SEO experimenting so this tag would be great for people like me. It will also be great for people that are offering limited information or products.
