Warning, do not try this at home!

Working from home SHOULD be pretty safe. No dangerous tools, no stairs to climb, don't even have to get in a car, which in California is one of the most life threatening things you can do!

Some of you have heard me talk about the importance of taking breaks, to stretch your back, legs and carpal tunnel. Guess I should take my own advice more often.

Don't sit so long in one place while you are working, that your leg falls asleep or when you try to walk you could fall down and go boom! So now instead of working all day today like I should have been doing, I ended up spending half the day at urgent care. Dr. thought ankle was broken but could not see a break on Xray, so ended up deciding it was probably just a bad sprain. But they say when it comes to ankles sprains can be even worse than a break.

So I have an air cast and crutches and have to absolutely stay off my feet for a week. Also have to keep foot elevated above my heart and on ice. So have been trying to rig up a comfortable position so I can almost lay down with my leg propped up high and work, without straining my neck.

So glad I have my new laptop and Lazyboy recliner. Couldn't work if I had to sit at my desk.

So moral of the story. If you sit at the PC for so long you get numb butt, proceed with caution when you stand up. Trust me when I say NUMB BUTT is warning sign your body gives you that you've been sitting too long. If when you get up you also find your foot is asleep, don't try to walk, your ankle may buckle right under you!

So that was my day, how was yours??? :p

oooooh:eek: you are having your health troubles this year.:( On this one unfortunately I can say been there done that:p Uhh, least you can attribute your boo boo to bein hard at work...mine was just from pure bein clumsy. Bout year and a half ago I missed the last couple of steps and seems both ankles seemed to go in all kinds of directions, right, left, back, front :p before landing. Definitely wasn't a pretty site. whole foot and bout 1/4 way up my leg was total black and blue lol :) Won't go into details but not a big fan of medical profession. Had to just stay in bed at first, then remembered I had my mil's walker from when she had been here in garage. Did the whole ice on for 20, off, soaked in epsom salts, kept up on pillow, blah, blah.

Anyway...got tired of everybody ganging up on me lol :) so went to hospital, got x-rayed (cost me $250) for them to tell me, no breaks. Doc said if pain kept up to go to an orthopedic guy. Fast forward to doc still tellin me to go to an orthopedist guy cos he thinks it was broke... Duh... I can walk on it, doesn't feel so hot at times, but not goin to any orthopedist guy. Actually badly sprained same ankle years ago lol so know some exercises to do for it. They'll probably tell you to do em, too. Make sure to do em.:)

Now....hope you've got somebody there to help take care of you.....No tryin to do stuff while it's hurting. That's an order...;) ok, just a request.:) Make sure you keep doin the stuff to help it feel better....behave yourself and no bungee jumping or anything for a while. Hope it feels better very soon and big hug for you.:D

Thanks purplebear,

OUCH! Yikes that sounds horrible!

I sprained/broke my left ankle 6 years ago and it was really bad like yours. They could not see a break so called it a sprain on Xray. When it didn't heal form months they did MRI and turns out it was broken all along and I should not have been walking on it. Then a bone fragment broke off and was floating around in the joint so caused problems for almost a year.

This one is my rt ankle and isn't nearly as bad. It's doing better today. Not supposed to walk on it but can't use the crutches cuz they hurt my carpal too much, so I'm just walking on it. The way I see it, I can work without walking, but am totally up a creek if I make my hands any worse, so am saving my hands. I think my ankle will be fine.
