Hello there,

I'm a developer busy building sites I want to use, and now trying to convince other people they should too.

Marketing's never been a strong-point, and I've always been suspicious of false promises, snake-oil and vapour-ware. But... I'm slowly (finally) realising there's too much stuff on the Internet to use the old "build it and they will come" strategy - so it's time for me to learn about marketing, getting customers, and making them happy.

I'm here to learn about the marketing side of things, but if I stumble across any implementation threads I'll try to help. I'm acting as a jack of all trades at the moment, covering all tiers from front to back (JavaScript to MySQL.)

It never occurred to me that a marketing forum would have rules against (self) marketing. It's kinda twisted... but I see why you do it, and it seems to work.

Hey ewelike and welcome aboard. Sounds like you are a little ahead of the game by developing sites you want to use...that's a good attitude to live/design by... ewelike, it is good to see that you will try to help others when you can. That is what we are all about - people helping each other.

This is a place for people to learn rather than a place for people to sell. There are forums that all what you are talking about and many of them have ended up being taken over by spammers. We are the way we are because we don't want that to happen here.

When you or any members has questions, they receive answers without anyone trying to sell them anything or trying to get them to visit their site because we don't allow it. Our members get great information rather than a lot of sales pitches.
