Hello everyone!

I'm a newbie affiliate eager to become successful in this field. Over the past few months I've done essentially nothing but research regarding my first big niche. I feel kind of overwhelmed, but I am committed to eventually turning some profit, even if I have to lose a few hundred due to trial and error. I've found this forum to be incredibly helpful - but I have one question.

I've read on this site that there are no real "guru's" to affiliate marketing and that most ebooks are nothing more than a waste of time. But what about Jeremy Palmer's Black Ink Project? I've learned from research that Jeremy Palmer is the man, and have heard good things about his courses. Are there any other good resources for newbs like me to reach out to? Thanks, and I hope to heard from you guys soon.

Hi hockeyfrk5

Welcome to 5 Star. Thanks for joining us.

There actually are some real gurus and some good ebooks. The warnings are about all the get rich quick in your underwear with no work ebooks, written by some fake guru no one has ever heard of. Sorry if it sounded like ALL ebooks are bad, there are just so many overly hyped ebooks that try to take newbies for a ride and try to get them to spend money they don't have.

Jeremy and all his stuff is very good. Rosalind Gardner and James Martell are 2 other reputable gurus that offer good info. Jeremy and James are both members here as well.

Well I'm going through James Martell's ebook right now. Unfortunately it's date back to 2006, and some of the information is outdated (i.e. Yahoo's bid tool, Wordtracker price increases). But I am applying his concepts and hope to see some results.

The business changes very fast. That's good and bad. Bad because just as you find out what works, it may start to not work. Good that it changes because if you find what works, it's not long before others do too and you now have lots of competition.

I once heard about how being a doctor is not about going to med school and you are done with your education. It's life long learning for them as more discoveries and techniques are developed. It's much the same with affiliate marketing. However, the good news is, there are many, many folks who built simple sites years ago that are still making money with them. Patience is your friend in this business.

Not sure if this helps, but I started typing and this is what came out. :)
