How important is Safesurf registration?

I've had my website www.worldofnz.co.uk up and running for a while, but am always trying to make little improvements.

Today I came across mention of registering as a safe surfing site - www.safesurf.com - for the first time. I figured it could only help me, so went through the registration procedure and added the html code to my site.

However, as this was the first time I had heard of this, I am wondering has it just been due to my ignorance so far? Is this an important aspect to include when building a site these days? and is it commonly used?

I have hearing of safesurf for the first time but there are many other sites like that, I am not really sure if they contribute any value to your website.

I'm listed with both Safesurf and, ICRA (Internet Content Rating Association) and all it does really is describe what kind of content is on your site. I'm not sure if it drives anymore traffic to your site at all but I've never really tracked it either.
