How to best organize music genres in Wordpress? Cat or Tags?

Hey,

I'm opening a music website in my spare time and will be scattering some affiliate links throughout.

Here's the thing:
I'm not sure whether to organize music genres using tags or categories.

Option A
Category: Rock/Alternative
Subcategory: Art Punk, Alternative Rock, etc

Option B
Article: Billy Bo Bo Sings
Tag: Rock, Alternative, Art Punk

I'd like to start early with the most efficient way to organize genres on the back end before the ball really get's rolling.

Have any experience or thoughts? What are the pros and cons?
Let me know.

P.S: I'm fine with either method; Just saving myself some data entry time.

Categories and tags are not the same. So I think both can be beneficial.
Tags are refined segments they might overlap several categories however they could be seen as UX search (or interest) suggestions.

Just drag-n-drop several keywords (on the topic) into the tag field of a post being edited.
tags: artist name, what song or album is the content of that post.

I am assuming that you are posting manually using the web-interface CMS editor?
