How To Successfully Launch An Affiliate Offer?

I've been doing affiliate marketing for years now so I'm accustomed to promoting other people's offers. But now I am creating a new forex trading platform and I want to attract affiliates to help me bring new members/subscribers.

I have ZERO experience in setting up an affiliate offer so I'm looking for any and all advice you can give me please kind folks!

Some of the questions I have are listed below, but I'd be happy with any advice you can give if you have experience in launching and running affiliate offers.

- how to choose an affiliate network? Or should I just do the affiliate offer myself?
- how to attract affiliates right from the launch of the service?
- basic mistakes people (or maybe you!) have made when launching an affiliate offer that should be avoided?
- where to find affiliates for my sepcific niche (investing/forex)?

Sorry if this is a lot of questions - maybe I need to break it down to multiple threads but let's see how this goes first!

Thanks in advance

If you are building a platform, I'm not certain that using an affiliate network is a food fit. Afterall, networks are not typically used for promoting a platform, unless you specifically use a network that is heavy into lead gen. That's a possibility.

Most platforms build an affiliate program within their systems. This requires a little extra effort at the beginning as well as affiliate maintenance along the way.

Okay, so there is no way to truly get this answered in a single post unless I can find the time for a 12 to 15 page synopsis for you.

- basic mistakes people (or maybe you!) have made when launching an affiliate offer that should be avoided?

  1. Not having a true, written, affiliate recruitment plan for yourself and eventually your recruiters.
  2. Not properly vetting prospective affiliates.
  3. Not Having proper incentives.
  4. Lack of professionalism.
  5. Not having a professionally built JV page.
  6. Not having a proper affiliate management backend.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.

I have an affiliate recruitment video scripted, but I haven't had the time for recording it yet. Hopefully I'll get this out in the next couple of months. I am making it to post inside the private vendors forum.

Thank you very much for the response T J Tutor it is super helpful!

Some of your tips on common mistakes to avoid suggest I actually might be better with an affiliate network who can provide the affiliate back end, professionalism, stats, payments etc. I take your point about them not really marketing offers, although some affiliate networks do allow affiliates to browse offers and if my service is converting/welling well then wouldn't that attract more affiliates? I'm thinking of when I've promoted clickbank offers in the past - I usually choose offers based on products that are selling well.

thanks again for your valued input.

Define just what you mean by *platform*
If you want to work in the first world; Forex operations as a broker making offers is a licensed occupation.
Without proper licensing --No network (that is reputable) will touch this.

Thanks Graybeard, let me clarify. It's a copytrading platform and already approved by a leading broker, in fact they've given me some nice perks for agreeeing exclusivity with them (I think this is partly because I some excellent traders that will be providing the strategies and partly because I already have a Youtube following related to forex so maybe I was already on their radar).

There are a lot of Copy Trading MT4 apps out there
I looked at this long ago and found lots of plugins being sold for it.
Clickbank (an affiliate network offers these) eBay has many of the same at 1/4 the price ...
