First, what copywriter do you want to be?
There are some copywriters that sell their services through Fiverr, Freelancer, Upwork, etc.
Others will rely on referrals and networking to get a decent amount of money.
There is a third group that will do manual work search. They start branding themselves. They get clients from their website, social media, referral, etc. And of course, they charge more, but they're damn good at what they do.
So, there is something common between all types of freelancers. 1. Hard Work 2. Skilled at what they do
So if you want to get into copywriting, know that you'll not make good money at the start. You need to read thousands of books, hundreds of articles, and participate in dozens of courses. Then you should have a damn good portfolio (Some good work samples).
If you want to be a successful freelancer, you MUST know marketing, branding, and sales. Then your success is guaranteed.
Now, go think. See if you want to make quick money to just LIVE, probably you should think twice about being a copywriter. But if you want to invest time, energy, and money to develop an in-demand skill, you can break into copywriting.

You have two options, as @Iman Ragheb said - write for yourself and/or write for others. Both can provide you with an income, if you can write well.
If you have any knowledge of NLP, persuasive sales speak, you can do quite well.
And yes, it is work, sometimes long, hard work and it can be very time consuming. However, if that's what you want to do and have the skill, there's little to stop you from succeeding with it.

You can approach the websites which are willing to pay for the guest post and you can write for them. Many brands and businesses want copywriters for their brands and you can write the Content for them. You can also go for freelance platforms and can also bid on the work required.
Personally, I think guest posting is mostly for exposure, the initial introduction to the consumer, to draw them into a new funnel. Which is fine but takes time to see any sales results if there are going to be any. If a person wants to go that route, better pick a really good site to do that on, or you are likely wasting your time, like @T J Tutor said.
Is that still a thing? I know it used to be back in the old days, there were places that listed who would pay and how much.

This is interesting, my cousin was just asking copywriting and indicated interest in it. And I did advise him to join Facebook groups on that niche, and find clients. However, if you also go on Google and search for best copywriting ebooks pdf, you will find a ton of them that will surely put you on the track.
