'I am rich' app

Have you heard about 'I am rich' application?? The expensive app that does nothing.

I am rich is an iOS application that costs 999.99 USD (one the most expensive apps), it's realized on August 5, 2008 by Armin Heinrich.
It has NO hidden function but showing others you are able to afford it.

Well, I've done some researches, and I found a bunch of weird applications that cost a lot too.

How can you charge 299.99 USD for such a game?????

If I had money and if the 'I am rich' community were big, I would buy it in order to show my social status, if I needed it. However, if the app was sold only 8 times, it doesn't seem to have any practical use.
