IE to cause chaos

Apparently, IE7 will be pushed to XP users forcefully, you will have not option but to update. Its also said to be defining lots of things very very differently so chaos is predicted for the website that is not IE7 compliant, any one using IE7 already ?

I thought IE 7 was basically structuring itself quite similar to existing browsers and finally offering tabbed browsing support along with full transparent image support and W3C compliance.

Sadly that's about all I know of IE7.

Allright, upon further investigation I've found a few articles that don't paint a pretty picture about IE 7. This is the one that has me the most concerned though:

Essentially, not only is it not supporting the latest .css structure but apparently it's security is just as bad as it is now.

I bet Mozilla is just loving this and who can blame them?

I guess the good thing is that Microsoft can try and force this crapware down our throats but at the end of the day, we all have a choice as to what we choose as a default browser.

there is a lot of other stuff IE7 is introducing that will radically change how your site shows in browsers.
Though purist claim Firefox is better and complaint etc etc but about 80% or so of Internet users still use IE so, it may be worthwhile checking one's website in IE7 just to see what it looks like

Here are some of stuff that is supposed to be done differently in IE7
From a user's perspective, improvements include tabbed browsing, better printing, RSS feed integration, more advanced searching, and better security features, as well as a plethora of add-ons to enhance the user experience (similar to Firefox extensions).
* RSS integration ? IE7 automatically detects RSS feeds and asks you to subscribe. It also gives you the option to have IE7 auto-check for feed updates (even when it's not running).
* Updated CSS behavior ? the IE7 team worked very closely with the W3C workgroup to ensure standards compliance. They made over 200 changes from IE6 to become compliant with CSS2.1. Even if your site is standards compliant, it may not be rendered exactly the same as it is in IE6 or Firefox.
* AJAX XMLHTTP :to have your cross-browser AJAX work better with IE7
* Added security features ? everything from more secure SSL defaults to disabling most Active X controls by default has been changed to help make the user's browsing experience more secure.

Typically, I check all my webwork in both browsers because as you say 80% of my traffic is IE based.

My understangding is the above should be offered in IE7 but much of it isn't in IE7 beta which seems to be the reason for the panic.

BTW, is there any mention of transparent .png support, finally?
