I'm a Semi-Retired Guy Interested in Affiliate Marketing

I am starting a blog and am interested in eventually monetizing it with AdSense and affiliate marketing. So I'm thinking I need to learn SEO first and then depending on how my site ranks after several months, I may get into paid traffic.
My questions to the forum: what are your suggestions for learning SEO-for example, are there are any books which you recommend, eg, SEO 2019 by Adam Clarke, or should I watch You Tube videos and if so, who would you recommend? Also, which is the easiest source of paid traffic to get into? By easiest, I mean which source would be the easiest to understand for a newbie with a limited budget. I am thinking FB, but would like to know what the experts think.
Thank you for your time

I need to learn SEO first and then depending on how my site ranks after several months, I may get into paid traffic.

It may be wise to learn to write content for the respective audience while learning SEO. SEO in and of itself is less important at the beginning than the paid traffic may be. SEO is not an overnight skill to learn. There are more than 220 algorithmic considerations as of now when working out your SEO tactics. At the beginning, just stick with the top ten most important.

Content is going to be your biggest challenge, no matter what the niche. Content wars are highly competitive and you have to really work at developing the skills and sources for your content in order to keep your audience engaged and coming back.

which source would be the easiest to understand for a newbie with a limited budget.

Each traffic source will have its own policies, so whichever one you choose, be sure to know their policies like the back of your hand, or you may be dealt with bans.

Google and Facebook are the top traffic sources and the most expensive. Learning to use traffic sources requires learning to properly target geos and demographics, block unwanted traffic, day-parting, and several other facets.

Let's not forget about the need to learn copywriting.

Sooooooooooo much more.

I think your questions have been answered in the above posts. The only thing I can maybe add, is to keep your audience in mind when you're writing. Also, capture emails and build relationships, if you're going the blogging route.
