I installed inkscape a week or so ago, but am yet to have a proper play with it.

Inkscape is a bit buggy on LINUX (Kubuntu 18.04) but maybe it is the KDE Desktop?
But then as compared to Adobe Illustrator's costs -- I can live with it.

But overall, it fully copes with the key tasks.
