One type of Problem we were finding is duplicate content issues. A quick rundown on Duplicate content.
When you develop a site, or individual web pages you can get penalized if those pages are the same content. Google and other search engines will rank you lower because the content is not unique. To discover if your content is unique go to Google and type in the following.site:www.yourwebsite.com,The on the results look for any pages that contain the text "supplemental index". You are placed in the supplemental index server, which will not help you rank higher. If you see this check these pages and be sure that your pages do not have the same content.
Over the past few years it has been literally tidal wave to create website for the companies. Building a website, however, it is the first step and marketing the website on the Internet is the second one. Driving business traffic to your site takes knowledge, planning, time and effort. Having a website it great but it is meaningless if nobody knows about it. Business professionals should learn how to formulate an Internet marketing strategies in keeping with your objectives, your products & services and your targeted traffic. By setting the all the objectives appropriately you will be more prepared to achieve the goals of Internet Marketing for Online Business.

People just do not understand supplemental results or duplicate content!

Copy and paste this phrase in google!

The first results is listed as "supplemental"

If supplemental results do not rank, then why is this and millions of other "supplemental" Results in the top 10??????

Duplicate content is ONLY if the entire site or page is an exact duplicate. file name for file name and content for content, image for image, script for script, and exact layout for exact layout!

That is duplicate content. Article directories have different things on their pages from one directory to the next and they do not get hit for duplicate content.

People have taken duplicate content way out of content.

The duplicate content issue was designed to stop spammers from controlling the top 10 with identical pages and sites.

I am not asking you to believe it, do the search and see for yourself. You can rank with supp results pages, it happens all the time.

I found a good name that is not highly used. Rather than go using the words like free, instant,bonus,cash, when I submitted my website to the search engines; I just used my domain name and submitted my home page. I did a google search of my site and this forum shows up also.

Websites with duplicate content are usually termed as PLR(plagiarized) websites.The basic funda of plr site is to post borrowed articles on the website without giving anyone credit and also withhelding the identity of the original poster.In short, its spam unless you are willing to modify them somewhat, you aren't really doing yourself alot of favor by using them on your site. Google is definitely frowning upon those who are using duplicate content.Logically speaking, altering rights should grant the buyer master resale rights as well. But most of the PLR content offers have restrictions to the effect that you can't resell the same without substantial alteration of the products. By "substantial alteration," the seller usually pegs a change of more than 20%.They also state you can not resell or give them away.Now there are sites out there and people are selling the same plr content at cheap prices!It will get to a point that only newbies and fools will purchase such stuff.The only real plr is going to be your own.Someone is selling a software program that he states will take any article and rewrite it differently, no matter how many people submit the same article to the software.

There is more to a site than the content. a spider reads all of the code.

If this were true, every article directory would be penalized by Google and yahoo. but they are not.

As long as credit is given and each site has its own layout, images, javascript ect... They will NEVER get hit for duplicate content.

And if you follow the directions, you will see that the duplicate content theory is exactly that. Nothing but a "Theory"!

Now, If someone buys a plr site. it is an exact replica, file for file, script for script, and image for image. This will get hit for duplicate content.

But re-publishing articles on multiple sites will never get you hit. And it is not frowned upon. If it was, the article directories would have been removed from Google and yahoo's indexes long ago.

Ruters would be out of business, Yahoo news would not be able to publish their news as they are ruters articles. And the same holds for Google News, CNN, FOX. and loads of others. As long as you give author credit, you are ok.

Really, you should take the time to read the link i posted. This is not guesswork, and speculation without proof is just wishfull thinking!.

Look at the proof, try and test and you will see that you are way off base.

I am not asking you to believe me. I am asking you to look at facts. and the facts outweigh speculation, and the "Theory" of duplicate content is pure speculation with no facts or evidence to back it up.

I agree. There is such a huge amount of information that can easily kill you. Therefor I choose the path of learning from those who have proven to be successful. I am moving step by step, but at least know I do not have to test everything that does not word. Gl

I agree, you need to learn from people who have been successfull. But there are some common sense rules for this also.

You have to ask the question "Who Gains" from the help you get? If they are helping from selling you a package or information, they are not helping. They are making money.

If you get the "SECRET" from a pitch page, you are gathering information from a source that is making money on your ignorance and 99.999% of the time( I know as i have invested over 25 K in my online "education" fund to the Guru's), it is a lie, or a partial truth. and a partial truth is like a partial car, it will not work. If you have to "opt in" to get the information, they are putting you on a list to SELL you.


When i was first starting, after starving a while a "Guru" actualy told me the truth, He said: "Do not buy what i sell, But do what i do to make you buy".

And that has made all of the difference. This covers a lot more than most will think from the start.

You have to study and see what they are doing, It does not end at a pitch page.

It has to be specific to your product or service. For example, You do not need a pitch page to push payday loans. They need the money bad or they would not be there. So it is as simple as them being able to find you first.

Now, The new Pet Playhouse for a cat needs a different format, because it is a "Want" not a need. so the copy has to be different and they need to find you.

I have never seen an opt in list just to sell a cat playhouse. So, use common sense when "Following" the Guru's because it is more than likely that you will become the customer than he/she helping you gain customers.


The Main ingredient to marketing anything is targeted traffic. Period.

Amazing well written article by jcorkern. I have always concertrated on traffic rather than PR. So it is what it is and that is what i am thinking at all time.
