Some one suggested that it is impossible for any new search engine to emerge and join or knock one of the big three of its current position, I tipped IBMs up coming engine to do that, I wonder what members of UK WWW think about this.
I am quite sure that it' hard to became an important player now in the search engine business, but i think that step by step and with a lot of work, passion, etc it can be done.
I don't think that any search engine is ever going to beat google at its own game. IBM may knock yahoo or MSN down and become no2.
I think the only way to beat google will be to invent somekind of irresistable magnificent internet technology that will revolutionise the interent in some way and make it use your search engine.
Someday someone will come up with a better idea. If that person works for google, then google will stay on top. If not, the cream always rises to the top.
I agree with Paul, anythings possible. All it takes is a somewhat innovative idea that caters to the general public and I'm sure the others will feel the heat.
