Well Temi, i would like to ask you to do a search for the "lost forum" keyword. The #1 will be an authority site with PR4 using hypen in the URL. Or do a search for a really competetive phrase, "internet marketing blog". The no 1 site is John Scott's blog using two hypens in the domain. I think the domain has much more affect on serp, than the title tag.
BagI,
The explanation you offer is now conclusive. John Scott is an internet marketing guru, I am sure there are very powerful links pointing to his site. I can offer you this keyword "web directory list" the site on page one number 1 and number 2 does not have the keyword in its domain name, the site with the keywords in its domain name is number 3.
Bagi,
If you like, you and I can test this experiment and do our own little SEO contenst
Via PM send me a keyword rich domain for a certain keyword. You will add a fixed number of links to the site and I will use a domain that does not have keywords in its name and I will add twice the links you pointed to your experiment and lets see which one ranks higher. I am happy to provide you the domain name and most of the links you need so it will not cost you any thing, if you are game let me know
We can annouce our finding in your blogs and my blogs
