I have just acquired link slinky. Some of us are familiar with Link Slinky. It was well promoted by the previous owner but it was a work in progress which he never had the time to complete.

It has not been positioned as any particular kind of web directory (to my knowledge anyway) now I am thinking of making it a niche directory but which niche I am not sure.

I already have a free directory, general directory, a loan directory, a business directory.
I am thinking of making Link Slinky a industry and serviced directory like Find UK suppliers with the Kellysearch B2B product search engine or Applegate Directory Ltd . I will like to hear you suggestions.
Thanks

why dont make it a business directory.

not only uk but go for the world.lol

btw congrats on the new directory.

Thanks for your suggestion. From experience when you define your audience very very closely you are more successful than when its as wide as the whole world, world directory is just too large, you will get mainly UK and US companies submitting to the site anyway, I do not know the US well but I know the UK very well so making it a UK business and industry directory with a section for the rest of the world may play better than a world directory.

oke your the expert.

i am just a new kid on the block.
but i learned again today.

a industry directory is cool i am making one myself.lol

I think launching a real estate niche directory would be a nice choice, associating with linkslinky is quite difficoult.

I agree with you about real estate being a good nich, yes, associating that with link slinky will be difficult, also the nake link slinky does not sound very estate agent like :(

What do you think about a directory of directories? I think i won't have any more intelligent idea.:D

Directory of directory is too narrow a niche. You only get other directory owner submitting their site and I think there is less than 50,000 directory owners online and most of them want free listings :(
Something to do with business... for example over 2 million registered business in UK...just get a fraction of them to list their sites and you will have a substantial listing and businesses are happy to pay, most serious businesses do not look for free listings.
Or a smaller segment of the business say real estate like you suggested or hotels or finance. Not too keen about anything aimed at just webmasters like directory of directories. But thanks for that suggestion.

What about a travel directory, but rather than a worldwide travel directory it could be for travel sites that are in particular aimed at UK holiday makers.

I think you will have the same with real estate. I have to reject at least 2 submissions a day about real estate. (and I thought it was clearly stated on my directory that I only accept literature oriented websites :( )

What about a beer directory ;)

Eric, a beer directory? I never thought of that, I will give it a serious thought after having a beer :)
