Domain trading was once huge, but today most of the domain auctions handle them. I never did anything with IDN's, but traded in domains in the early days. Big pay days back then, late 80's to mid 90's. Then the affiliate marketing became so lucrative I just banked/archived the really great domains I had left.

IDN trading would have to have a really strong market to motivate me to go back into it. Maybe it's a path for others though if it can produce steady turnover.

The old schema for international characters was 123456.com and the like for many years.
Now they can contain native characters --for very specialized for GEO-language traffic.
Tight niche to operate in.
