It seems that Microsoft has abandoned Windows XP completely. They have no intentions to ship a new service pack.
Long awaited SP3 will most likely never see the light of day. Instead, MS will probably just patch up a few security risks and that's it.
This isn't the first time MS did something like this, and probably won't be the last time.
Microsoft is playing a double strategy by doing this: they get more time do work on Vista and they get more users to buy Vista since XP is basically unsupported now.
