Microsoft will test and Adsense like service called AdCenter in France and Singapore beginning in October and Yahoo is to expand its self serve adsense style Yahoo publisher network.
Looks like Google continence to lead the pack in all areas of search and generating money through search.

If anyone would like to join the publisher Yahoo network in Beta then apply now. I had the offer, but can not as you have to be a US citizen and have a US Social Security number :(

Taken from the Wall SJ:

Microsoft next week will announce that an invitation-only test of MSN Keywords will begin in October with 500 advertisers and search-engine marketing specialists. The service will move MSN closer to how Google handles advertising, by using live auctions of keywords. MSN Keywords is one tool of a broader set of new advertising services called adCenter that Microsoft is building on MSN. Microsoft executives say they hope the tools will allow companies to tailor advertisements by giving them more detailed information on Web users than is currently available.

Wonder if I get an invite not to join that as well lol.

More contextual advertising = More fraud.

Everyone wants in on the, "tricks for clicks" game. I'm afraid Google beat them to the punch, and are now showing a decline in contextual advertising. I believe Yahoo/MSN are getting in the game a bit too late.

IMHO, the smart money stays OUT of contextual advertising.

And into affiliates Paul? I have made a commitment this year to get into site revenue from either ads or affiliates. As I have done neither it will be great fun learning it all.

You won't be learning anything from Paul OWG,
He does not give anything away especially trade secrets :)

OWG, if you write good ad copy, your CPC with affiliate programs will perform 10 times better than Adsense.

Write an article about widgets, incorporating widget bases lead programs into your content, and then kick back while the checks roll in.

Oh, and another way to learn what works is to study the SERPS for affiliate related sites. See what's working for them. Don't steal their ad copy though. LOL

And forget banners, unless you're using them simply to reinforce the text link/product.

Do you have a good example from a website already online that demonstrates this?
