I thought I was a little more advanced but something has come up that makes me think I missed a basic principle of affiliate marketing.
We are a merchant and have been using Commission Junction for quite a while to market our items. It's worked out great so to enhance this and get an even broader reach, we signed up with Google Affiliates. Also going great. Here is the problem:
We are now seeing the same orders showing up in both CJ and GAN for the same affiliate! I didn't realize this could happen, I figured if a publisher signed up for both accounts, either one or the other would trigger the commission. Now we are looking at paying double for the same sale.
Is this common? How do you handle this? Do we exclude publishers from signing up for both? Is there a way to keep them on both accounts but force the sale to be attributed to the last one clicked?
thanks!!!
