<strong>Profound :: Powerful :: Perfect :: Passion</strong>

I read blogs all day long. I've read thousands of blog entries from TONS of famous people and prolific writers. Today I discovered the most PROFOUND post. It PERFECTLY describes an important puzzle in my life that I've been trying to figure out for a very long time. I share this with you in the hopes that you will REALLY read it and take it to heart. I sincerely hope it has a POWERFUL affect on you too and helps you find your PASSION.

This post could have a <strong>major impact on your business and your life</strong> if you really take the time to read and think about it. My Life Puzzle??? I always encourage others to set goals. It's an important part of success right??? Everyone says so, so it must be true! Yet I'm not very good at setting goals and don't really feel very compelled to. I thought I was defective somehow or maybe just lazy. After reading the following blog I now have my answer... <strong><a target="_new" href="http://www.alistercameron.com/2007/04/28/if-you-dont-have-passion-and-purpose-greater-productivity-wont-help-you/">Alister Cameron writes</a></strong>:

<blockquote><strong>"If what you do with the best hours of your day is not also the thing you’re passionate about, <a target="_new" href="http://www.alistercameron.com/2007/04/28/if-you-dont-have-passion-and-purpose-greater-productivity-wont-help-you/">stop right now</a>!</strong>

Stop right now and confront the cold hard facts for what they are:

<strong>No amount of effectiveness training, time management skills, productivity tips and tricks or goal setting know-how will replace the critical missing ingredient of your life: passion.</strong>

Until you discover your “fire within” you will remain condemned to a life only endured, not lived; to delicacies only tasted, not devoured; to joys only imagined, not experienced. And in old age you will lament the days of your youth, when fears about money and security kept you from taking the leaps of faith and courage in the direction of your dreams.

<strong>A life lived in moderation is not the stuff of stories told to grandchildren...
with a twinkle in your eye."</strong></blockquote>
You really need to go read this long insightful... heck its so good I can't even find words that have enough impact! Just go read this now, then come back to see how it helped me solve my life PUZZLE and will maybe help you find a piece of yours!
<strong>
<a target="_new" href="http://www.alistercameron.com/2007/04/28/if-you-dont-have-passion-and-purpose-greater-productivity-wont-help-you/">If you Don’t have Passion and Purpose, Greater Productivity Won’t Help You!</a></strong>

Did you read it? Did you have one or maybe several AH HA moments? Do you think what you just read will be a CATALYST that will help your business and your life? I hope so!

I also hope that Alister will pardon me for copying such a large snippet of the post and realizes I only did it to try to get people to the full post... to get the full effect.

I had many AH HA moments myself as I read this. There are so many lessons to be learned inside those words. <strong>So the answer to my puzzle???</strong> <em>If you do what you love and are passionate about it - things like organization and goal setting just aren't as necessary. If you are driven by your passion, as opposed to being driven by pure greed or the NEED to succeed, then things more easily just slip into place. </em> I'm blessed to be doing what I love and getting paid for it.

<strong>As I read this I thought about a couple new affiliates in my forum that have such high hopes for their affiliate businesses and are desperate to get out of their J.O.B. to do this full time. They want to go full-time in this business so bad they can taste it & have that almost spiritual drive that Alister talks about. I can't wait to share this with them and I hope it helps them find their way.</strong>

On a MUCH smaller and less life critical note, this is also why I encourage newbies
to find a niche they are PASSIONATE about.

<strong><em>Building the site will be a joy, not a chore...
Writing copy will come easier and the words will flow...
Let your passion for the topic come through, visitors will feel it, success will follow...</em></strong>

What many newbies don't realize is that <strong>being an affiliate</strong>, putting up sites about stuff just for the money, getting links and writing copy for search engine spiders <strong>can be VERY BORING!</strong>

<strong>Find your passion :: Create your 1st site around that :: The money will follow ::</strong>

Linda very well said. Your passion certainly shines through.

Gosh I can hardly imagine how boring it would be to build a site just for the money or because someone or some software said that was the right "niche" to get into. But I guess the truth is we all do that a "little". It should be a drag if your site never made ANY money. A good site is a lot of work. But as you said, if there is passion involved it makes it easier and maybe even fun.

So like many things in life it's about balance.

good advice

It is true if you are trying to do something or sell someting you are not interested in then you will lose interest and not be able to convince others that you know and understand what you are doing.

Follow your heart

Absolutely right!

We need to feel good about what we are doing.
This is the basic of attracting more good things into your life and business.

Since I am passionate abt law of attraction, I go into this area. I write articles, blog, in this subject so that more can benefit and create abundance in their life.

It just makes me feel very happy to be in business everyday.

love what you do it's sooo true !

Hi Linda,
Yes what away to start the day with passion . love what you do & do what you love ! Awesome :)

Building the site will be a joy, not a chore...
Writing copy will come easier and the words will flow...
Let your passion for the topic come through, visitors will feel it, success will follow...

if people have Love & Sound-mind's.. peace will follow!

Best wishes & success
mrjoe

Oh yes, it's so important to have good knowledge of what you're promoting and the passion to convince people why they should want/need/desire the product.

I once tried adding a singles/personals affiliate to my site and here I, personally, am terrified of meeting strangers over the net. I never made a cent promo'ing it and later realized in a sense, I was being a hyprocrit trying to earn off something I would never use. Left a bad feeling in my gut as well as a lesson learned!

Be passionate

I suppose we have to try the other way around before seeing how much truth is in this. One of my Made for Adsense blogs was about garage doors. I don't have a garage, I don't care about garage doors, so my passion lasted for about one month (it took so long because I became interested in how those doors are operated and how important safety is when you buy one). Then I started to use free articles, I posted one or two of them ever day for about one week, then I even forgot that I had a blog about garage doors. So did my readers!

Good points all!

I just read a REALLY good thread about something related.

If you can't think of a niche you KNOW about and are passionate about,
what about something you are passionate about LEARNING more about.
For instance you've always been curious about geneology or rock climbing or
speaking Spanish and want to learn how to do it. You could research it,
learn about it, write about what you discover and monetize the info with affiliate links.

If you find it interesting and something you've always wanted to
learn about anyway you can find some joy in researching and
earn as you learn - or learn as you earn! :p

The other idea in the article is to leverage off a topic that one of your friends or family knows lots about or is passionate about. Use their enthusiasm for the topic, hobby or whatever to gather ideas for things to write about, interview them and/or get them to write articles for you.

Follow Your Passion

Great post Linda!

I agree, this applies to Internet Marketing and life!

Sometimes I find myself stuck...and I have to remember to tap into my passion and from there make something blossom!

Thanks

If You Have Passion and Patience, The Money Will Indeed Follow!

Hi,
I started doing affiliate marketing 2 1/2 years ago, and my topics/hobbies/passions are internet phone service and computer security (yes, I'm a geek!) I've spent countless hours developing my websites in my spare time (had many failures and disappointments along the way - but that's how you learn), because these are topics I am truly passionate and determined about. I am also bound and determined to make a career of internet marketing some day (I still work full time at a J.O.B.), so I keep pressing on with the inner knowledge that someday I will achieve my goals.

I finally started to reap the rewards of my efforts 2 months ago, when I experienced my first $1,000 month (what a thrill!!!!). Then last month I exceeded this record by $300 (needless to say, I found a new fire within!). To my total shock and disbelief, I surpassed that record during the first 2 weeks of this month!

On Wednesday of this week (7/18), I had my first $1000 day :D , due to the fact that Sunrocket VoIP shut down and 200,000 subscribers were scrambling to find new internet phone service. Needless to say, I was totally flabbergasted, even though I felt really bad for these poor people who lost service (some subscribed based on my recommendation).

I wanted to post to this forum at that time (I owe a lot to this site, as it really has inspired me over the years), but I knew I had to get busy changing my website (to remove Sunrocket referrals - by the way, they owe me a lot of money too!) and promoting alternative VoIP services.

I've been blogging, updating and writing articles all week (day and night) in an effort to capture as much of this new business as I can, and as a result I have now earned well over $16,000 this week alone! As I see it, this is my "reward" for all the time, energy and money I've put into building my marketing business. Although this "windfall" is attributed to being in the right place at the right time, it would not have happened if not for my diligence never-ending efforts to promote and improve my rankings (I now rank in Google top 10 for many popular search terms!).

I know my sales will slow down within the next days as ex-Sunrocket subscribers satisfy their need for a replacement VoIP service, but I should still maintain a steady 4 figures a month as I diligently work at continuous improvement. My "15 minutes of fame" is not just attributed to luck however, it is due to the fact that I've been doing what I love (on a topic that I love)!

I wanted to post my story not to brag, but to try to encourage other "newbies" and offer a bit of inspiration. I really have learned a lot from this forum over the years, and it has inspired and encouraged me! Now I hope my story will help inspire others. If you have a true desire to succeed in internet marketing, and continue to work at it despite the hard times - it will pay off! As the saying goes - "you reap what you sow..."

All the best to everyone here, and especially to you Linda - you Rock! I've got to get back to marketing now. Gotta "make hay while the sun shines", as my friends grandmother used to say! :)

do what you love..love what you do
I know..I know...easier said than done.But isn't that always the case.
Remember this...If you do one thing half way,you will do everything half way
Apply this daily to your life and you will see a difference.

That story warmed my heart and I am SOOOOOO thrilled
to hear about your recent success djaco99. $16K this week? Fantastic!
So glad we could play a small part in helping you get to this point.

Linda just opened a fortune cookie for djaco99 that says:
djaco99 will work hard.... djaco99 will reach new heights. :p
I think this is just the beginning for you!!!

I was curious to hear about SunRocket and what was happening with all that.
But this is not the thread for me to ask you to go into more detail.
But if you are so inclined you could start a Sunrocket thread.
I think there may be other affiliates wondering if they'll get
paid or whats going to happen next.

Hi Linda,

I fully agree with you. Of all the affiliate program that I participated in, the one that makes me the most income are those that I have full passion and interest in.

Life is short. Rather than doing something that you NEED to do and make money, why not do something that you WANT and LOVE to do and make money.

LOUD APPLAUSE!! :D

Linda,

These are all great posts and I agree wholeheartedly with the money following passion. But may I interject with particular quandry? What if your passion is so near the heart, that you feel guilty making money off of it and then the whole reason you had a passion is suddenly diluted with cash?

Don't get me wrong, having money is good, -it's the love of money that is the root of all evil. You mention "Geneaology". I can do that all day and never get bored. I can sit and talk about it until the rooster crows, but how do I monetize a passion? Where do I find a product to sell within the niche I choose?

Thanks for your time and your enthusiasm to help!
