Hello,

More search engine to come in 2006, I have read about two new search engine been launche today. The first one is Navisso.com Search Engine and the second one is P.R.A.S.E. (Page Rank Assisted Search Engine) P.R.A.S.E. is designed to eliminate duplicate results and streamline the process of finding link partners when building for SEO and it will search Google, Yahoo, MSN and organizes results by page rank. You can read more about P.R.A.S.E in the source below:

Regards.

I've started using prase.com it's great for seeing who your competitors are by PR without having to click on each one. I'm not convinced it is entierly accurate yet, but it's probably just bedding in. Certainly worth a look though!

Why do you say that? As i've built my PR i've seen my sites rise in the rankings. What would you say is a better measure ?

You should consider it a coincidence.

Not often I disagree, but it is only a semantic disagreeance anyhow. PR is a side effect of linking. It is almost imposible to build links without upping your PR (remember that PR is not a whole number . e.g pr 3 could be anything from pr3.0000000001 to pr3.99999999999)

When you build links PR gets voted to your site. But it is not the actual PR that does the business is ranking you it is the links themselves, or more importantly the anchor text and relevance of those links.

Seriously though, I have PR2 pages that rank much higher than my PR5/6 pages. I just can't lend PR credence any longer.

your dead right Paul. Page rank is simply a mathematical figure. A bought link to your sports site from business.com homepage plus one or two other PR9 or 10 pages would probably get you a PR7 or 8. But one single link from say the BBC sports section PR3 or 4 page would see you catapulted to the top of the serps.

The simple fact is that a link from such an authority site counts highly, and a site from an on topic page on an authority site is gold dust.

I agree that PR is just a reflection of how your link building is working, but surely i you have equally (on page) optimised sites, one being a PR 2 and the other being a PR 6, the 6 will win in the SERP's.

So I don't see how you could say it means nothin these days?

Assuming this is right though, what would you sy are the most important optimisation points at th moment?

Page title, anchor text of incoming links are the two main items. BUT you really can not and should not focus on individual items of SEO. If you algo chace the latest thing, you will end up chasing forever. If you carry out complete SEO then the changes in the Algo willnot affect you.
