I went to an opening evening at a colledge yesturday with my little brother, i noticed that they're IT department was using Paint Shop Pro, what are your feedback about the program since ive alwaysed used photoshop.

I was looking at the program and ive found that photoshop have more effects and more tools but some say that the work on paint shop pro is of a better quailty.

Hello

I am usin Photoshop from a long time now and I am very happy with this soft. I have discovered GIMP, this is an Open Source graphic soft exactly like Photoshop. It's Open Source and there is a version for Linux and another for Windows.

Ovi

we have the gimp at our colledge and well i habent used it much but i found it difficult to use, but so was photoshop when i first used it.

im pretty sure paint shop pro is used because its cheaper, and not superior. currently it seems photoshops biggest turn off is its price, and nots its performance. either you want to pay the photoshop price for all its bells and whistles, or get something similar to photoshop for less or even free. personally id rather use photoshop, but thats just me, but i'm not going to knock someone for saving a few bucks and using a different program.

i find that photoshop has more extensions (e.g. brushes) than any other plus most tutorials are on the software photoshop

the first image editing software i ever used was PSP, some young version.

It's pretty good but no match for Photoshop. I think Photoshop is the image editing standard now.
Gimp is pretty cool but doesn't have that many options as photoshop.

It doesn't really matter what software you use, your talent and dedication is important

cheers

Photoshop all the way!!!! for 2 reasons:
-Photoshop is really easy to use and has lotsa stuff u can do (can even burn or make ppl albino! :p)
-I dont know and neva hear of paint shop pro :p

I love photoshop and choose it simply because it's the best you can get. It's also the industry standard software for print media related businesses for a reason.

I have some 00ber PS graphix I should upload here sometime for a laf.

I don't use either of the two. I use fireworks for all my graphics. I have a copy of PSP and I even have a copy of photoshop but i'm finding it really hard to use, i dunno maybe i'm just dumb.. I'm not sure why I dont use PSP I just don't..

;)

Some times if you became familiar with a graphic software it's hard to change. I understand this very well ;)

Ovi

A lot of the tools are very similar between these programs, it's as Ovi says, familiarity often plays a role in what software you choose.

seb: i use fireworks a lot, it's pretty easy but not as powerfull as Photoshop, for web graphics Fireworks is great but if you want more than that use Photoshop

yeah i know. Id ike to be able to use photoshop but im finding it difficult. doenst make me feel like the smartest person alive... :(

It makes a difference which Photoshop your using. I use Photoshop 7 because Photoshop CS made me feel like an idiot. Illustrator CS is the shizzle tho.

i didn't notice any major difference in learning photoshop 7 and photoshop CS.. only that CS is far more powerful :)

;)

You are right Novocaine, CS is far more powerful. Even many person say that Photoshop 7 is better. I don't know why. Did you know why?

Ovi

I never said that PS 7 was more powerful, just easier to use (at least as far as I'm concerned). I don't know about Photoshop CS but Illustrator CS has a completely new text engine, among other refinements and add-ons.

??
I didn't find any difference at all between CS and 7... they are the same... only that CS costs more. And what is the Photoshop Illustrator for????
