Its been about 3 weeks since I concerted this forum from phpBB to VBulletin. When I asked for members opinion prior to the conversion the reaction was mixed. I will say about 50 in favour and about 50 % against. I just wondered what you gents think now when you compare current forum to the previous forum, has VBulletin grow on those who were sceptical before the conversion ?

It really doesn't matter to me either way as they both have there strenghts/weaknesses. I personally wouldn't likely use V-bulletin simply because I don't want to pay for the licenses when I can get much of the same options with phpBB and some of my personal time to mod it.

That's really a tough one temi. I think with all the work you've done you should prolly stick with vb now. The only comment I'd like to make is that I have a bit of trouble with some of the graphics that show new posts, hot topics, etc., in the forums. Half the time I can't really tell if there's something new in there. I guess I'll just have to spend a bit more time here :D

In conclusion, I'd say keep vb, you don't have to worry about keeping it updated so it's a bit less work as well.

Thanks very much for your suggestions Ken. Regarding knowing whether a new post has been made or not you may want to use the "new post" link on the to navigation bar, it will show you all the new posts since you last visit.

I will also improve the graphics when I have some time

Sorry mates, even though VBulletin mite be easier, I think phpBB was way sleeker, and had lotsa smilies... anyways I like Invisionfree better.... what do u think boss (Termi)??

Really it comes down to personal preference. I don't mind using phpbb myself but I'm sure if I had a lot of webforums it would be much nicer to have vb so I don't have to go around installing mods all the time. I can see that being time consuming, hell, I only have two forums and it takes me forever. Not so much to install the mods, just a lot of time to find one thats right for me.

Sorry for the double post.

The one thing I can say about vb that really bothers me is that if your quick to click and scroll with the mouse, the page doesn't finish expanding to it's full size immediately. You end up scrolling a bit more if your impatient like me.

I've noticed this on a number of vb forums and wonder if it's just some kind of a flaw or if vb just requires a bit more bandwidth to run. Just guessing, obviously.
