Profitable Search Volume

Hi, I'm new here and glad I found this forum. It contains a wealth of great information waiting to be explored.

I hope the gurus could offer some tips on finding profitable keyword. Besides looking at PPC ads on Search Engines, what other ways can you know the keyword is profitable? Also, is there a benchmark that indicate the search volume is justifiable to pursue?

What are the reliable keyword finders that you use besides Google Adword keyword tool?

I wouldn't target a keyword that has less than 500 monthly searches. I use Google Keyword Tool and I always analyze the competition of course. This is key.

Check the page rank of the top 5 websites that are ranked for the keyword you'd like to target. It on of the page rank is higher than 6, forget it.

Yeah Google keyword tool helps. Use alexa rating, seo moz, etc to see competition and also you can check how much traffic the other sites get organically by using seoquake
