Shooting at Virginia Tech

This is awful!
Things like this make you think about what's this world coming to.
There have been too many things like this happening in the States. US officials should start asking themselves why is this so.

Virginia massacre gunman is named

Police have named a student who shot dead at least 30 people at a US university on Monday as Cho Seung-hui, a 23-year-old South Korean.
Cho was studying English and had been living on the university campus. He killed himself after the rampage.

He is also thought to have killed two people earlier in the day. It was the worst gun massacre in US history.

They don't know yet. There are some gossips it was because he cought his girl cheating on him. Even if something bad happend to him - is there any reason to go to shoot innocent people?? :(

That's right

His girl left him for someone else. So he decided to go out and start shooting everyone. I guess he did not know who his ex girlfriends boyfriend was.

Totally stupid and bang out of order.

Robocop,
I am not sure the ban we have in UK can prevent a tragedy like that, it does reduce the risk though.

it does reduce the risk though

Anything that reduces the risk is good in my book. I can't help thinking that going crazy in schools in the US and shooting the place up is becoming the thing to do after 16-year-old Brenda Spencer started this 'so called fad' in the late 70's She killed two adults and injured eight children and one police officer.

Seems others nutters have followed since then.

Yes Robocop,
I agree with you, there is way too many guns in the US society and the politicians don't have the backbone to do anything about it, the so called gun lobby is said to be very powerful.

And as it appeard after NBC discovered the video and pics that shooter sent to them, it was another of that kind of people, who think they are heros rebelling against the system by shooting unarmed and defenceless people. The boy was sick, anything could be the spark. It only makes you wonder how many more of people with similar problems are there...

And is this the problem of guns, or outsiders rejected by the crowd?

On the news the other day the comment was made that Virginia is one of the easiest states to pick up weapons legally.

The reporter went to a man`s house, who was a firearms seller, who did it as a legitimate living selling his wares in the kitchen. The weapons are normally stored under lock and key in his upstairs.

The reporter could have bought a pistol, ($500), or an M16 Assault rifle for $1,100. How crazy is that?

According to what I`ve read about 10 kids each day are killed because of gun `accidents,` things like getting hold of their parents guns, and either shooting themselves, or killing someone else. Many are too young to fully comprehend what they are doing. Americans have `the right to bear arms` but people also have a right to life. Those who lobby for the gun laws not to be tightened often have a vested interest (commercial) in keeping it that way.

I thought it was also interesting when someone on a local radio statio in Virginia was interviewed, the producer I think it was, and asked why, although they had phone-ins on the shootings itself, they wouldn`t touch the subject of stricter gun laws.

The answer was that they daren`t! As soon as it`s mentioned, and it has been in the past, some gun nutter will phone around all his circle of gun lovers who will purposely all phone in at once to block the lines.

Hmm, so, freedom of the individual to carry weapons, but they don`t believe in freedom of speech to go along with it.

Its very very sad the way American use their so called "First amendment" righ to carry arm to do themselves lots of harm :( the law was okay at a particular time in their history but I think its rather outdated now, their politician should do something about it.

I agree with TemPlayer about how business interrupts any other sphere of life. The country is strong for it's treasury, but it is also ruled by money. And the other countries learn to do it the same way...
