Should I be in Yahoo directory to get a better PR?

Does an entry in Yahoo directory have a big effect on Google PR and general search engine rankings?

I can't decide whether it is worth spending money to get an express listing or whether it will be a waste.

I think adding your site to Yahoo depends very much on your website promotion budget. Yahoo charges about $300 or so for adult related site per year.(though your site is not an adult site but because it sell adult materials it may be classed as adult site).
If you go through the list of web directories you can find here http://forums.ukwebmasterworld.com/showthread.php?t=641 with $300 to spend you will probably buy permanent listing (not annual listing like Yahoo) in about 20 different web directories some will list your site on a high PR page. That in my opinion is a better use of $300 promotion budget than a single entry in Yahoo.

Some of the directories are also owned by the same person/organisation if they know you are adding your site to their second 3rd directory they even give you a discount.

After doing that, if you are still not happy with you ranking or traffic then consider Yahoo listing.

Thanks Temi,

that's the approach I've taken so far.

It's $600 for an adult site by the way.

$600 for adult site!!! you can definately buy inclusion in at least 30 different web directories with that and still have some spare change left

IMHO, it's not worth it. Did you know about the new 30 cents per click, in addition to the annual fee? PFI directories are a waste of time and money for most sectors, and ESPECIALLY yours. wink wink Just get linked up with some PR4/5 site and you'll get spidered, guaranteed.

whao,
I can belive Yahoo charge this much. 30cent per click in addition to $600 annual fee? Now I fell proud I am able to generate all my traffic without the need to go to Yahoo

Thanks Paul,

I didn't know about the PPC either. I echo your sentiments and won't be paying my $600.
