Technorati Tags Dominate Yahoo Search Results
Rand Fishkin looks at how Technorati’s tag system has led to their pages dominating Yahoo Search results for such highly popular and well paying terms (for the Technorati search targeted text advertisements) such as photography, design, security and mp3. Ok, before you start registering your spam blogs and adding every single relevant Technorati tag to your blog profile, you may want to ask yourself… is this good for search? Then again, maybe not.

The question really should be - are Technorati tag pages deserving of their rank? Do they provide high quality information that Yahoo! searchers find useful for these single word terms?
Don’t get me wrong… As an SEO, I love knowing that I can often dominate a sector in Yahoo! with just a few entries at Wikipedia, a Technorati tag and an article at About.com, but I’m forced to ask if this is really what’s best for the searcher (and the engine).
