This applies to ``explicit`` content not *adult dating*

The Texas AG sued the current owners of Pornhub

5th Circuit Appeals Court upheld that state law the other day.
Pornhub bans all IP users from Texas (the evil empire strike back :D)

If you are using Maxmind, have the database installed --here is a script to use to blow off Texas --thanks ChatGPT haven't used it yet but it looks OK to me (in PHP)

PHP:
<?php
require_once 'vendor/autoload.php';
use GeoIp2\Database\Reader;

// Use the IP address of the client
$ipAddress = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

// Path to your GeoLite2 City database file
$database = '/path/to/GeoLite2-City.mmdb';

// Create a new Reader instance
$reader = new Reader($database);

try {
    // Lookup the IP address in the database
    $record = $reader->city($ipAddress);

    // Get the state of the IP address
    $state = $record->mostSpecificSubdivision->name;

    // Check if the state is Texas
    if ($state == "Texas") {
        // Direct traffic to the Texas-specific location
        header('Location: http://your-texas-specific-url.com');
        exit;
    } else {
        // Direct traffic to the default location
        header('Location: http://your-default-url.com');
        exit;
    }
} catch (\GeoIp2\Exception\AddressNotFoundException $e) {
    // Handle the error when the IP address is not found in the database
    echo 'IP address not found in the database.';
} catch (Exception $e) {
    // Handle other possible errors
    echo 'An error occurred: ' . $e->getMessage();
}
?>

Just ban Texas --No porn for you use a VPN LMAO this is so lame.

The affirmative defense is that: They gained access with a IP not from Texas Your Honor ...

They are going to fry Abbot and Paxton in Texas (Governor/Atty General) the SHTF in Texas yee haa!

barry@DS-11:~/ip_project/ASN_locater$ php ip-by-state.php
Input IPs: 399343
Texas IPs: 14699
Texas volume: 3.68%

Percentage wise I thought it would be more. The risk is about 0.01% I think --to much grief for my landing pages (that might qualify under this ridiculous statute -- painting of nudes in museums might apply --in the extreme )

Good news is ICF (my white label) wants the traffic --they will verify it and assume the liability. So I can, I can redirect Texas traffic amount my landing pages. I have a vague secondary liability, I own the domain but ICF is on the whois as the operational contacts --no mia cupla ...

Sounds perfect! All the potential reward without (probably) the legal risk.

The US 5th Circuit Court is a real problem.
This Age-Verification Law
Voting rights
Redistricting (Gerymandering) Voting Districts.
SEC Administrative Laws

Even the Trump appointee dominated US Supreme Court want to reign in some of the
US 5th Appeals Court's ruling.

We've had issues with judges here, too. Seems fair law only applies to some the past couple of years. They don't even try to hide it and it's so blatantly obvious. The process is the political punishment, even if you didn't break any laws. The government is currently being sued by many, as the Court of Appeals and/or the Supreme Court has already ruled that some judgments and procedures were illegal.

.....requiring public companies to report climate-related risks.
Sigh. I'm rolling my eyes so hard, it hurts.

Canadian politicians (not the Conservatives) plan on making any...ANY...speech that mentions, or advertises, fossil fuels in anything other than negative terms, illegal.

The world has gone insane. Pinky and The Brain syndrome. I don't how those people sleep at night.

That surprises me, actually.

"2023 law requires any websites whose content is more than a third "sexual material harmful to minors"
Question: who determines the 'third' and who determines what is considered 'harmful'?

Does somebody count images and videos? :D And why is the third okay but the remaining 2/3 is not. That doesn't make sense to me.

As for harmful, do they consult somebody's mother? I was thinking run of the mill type of content, not the really bad or violent stuff, obviously.

Personally, I don't think kids should see any of it. No need, let them stay kids. Yet, as I typed that, I remember that teenage boys used to hide Playboys to ogle over. Side question: do they still make those?

Ban Texas? That is the simplest solution
:rofl

Abbot and his bunch trying to intimidate the public to win the Fundie-Rightist voters.

He would like to be able to shoot immigrants at the Mexican border on site if he could.

Holy! That's nuts, everything is so extreme these days. The inmates are running the asylum.

I know one person who lives in Texas and can't wait to vote him out.
