Hi everyone, I'm an affiliate of amazon uk, although most of my site views come from the US, if I have understood , I must register for a US amazon account ,as i've done. Does this mean that there will be an automatic switch to the US shop when viewed in the US and if so what happens to the products that have a different name in the USA to England? I've spent 2 days trying to solve this, so I thought it's time to ask the experts.
Thanks
Phill

Yes, Amazon is annoying that way. Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, Amazon.co.uk, etc., all operate independently with different affiliate IDs. I had the same issue with Amazon.ca vs. Amazon.com and there's unfortunately no way to combine them. Like you, I determined that most of my traffic was from the US so I use the US affiliate links.

But what that means is that if anyone follows one of your links to amazon.com and then purchases the item from amazon.co.uk, you don't get a commission. I was told a few years back that Amazon was looking at ways to combine the affiliates but it hasn't happened yet so I wouldn't hold your breath.

There were a few scripts a few years ago that were supposed to sniff out the geolocation of a visitor and automatically put in the correct affiliate link (e.g., to amazon.com or amazon.ca or amazon.co.uk) but when I tried them they didn't work very well. You might try searching for something like that or hire a coder to create a script for you. I think that would be the only way to do it currently.

Thanks so much for your reply, I suppose the answer is to replicate the page with adding the US products and add national flags to choose which account will be used,

That's another option, yes. A lot of work potentially but now that you mention it I've seen some sites with limited products do that.
