Using MySpace to increase PR?

Does this work? Most MySpace profiles have a page rank of about 5. Would posing comments with a link on peoples profile increase page rank?

or would search engines see this as cheating and ban the site?

Posting comments be it at my space or a blog just for the sake of getting PR is considered spammming
