Webmaster tools - duplicate homepage

In the Google webmaster tools under Content analysis, the homepage is showing up twice, firstly as / then index.php

I've taken index.php out of the xml sitemap and also blocked it with robots.txt

My questions are have I done the right thing and if so, should this work?

I think you should unblock index.php because now you blocked your main page.

yes there are other ways of showing to google what you want your primary index to be

u shdnt have used robots.txt as tht way u blocking ur page.
u can go for 301 redirects instead
