What is a "Premium" name in your eyes?

I've noticed that there's lots of ads out on several webmaster forums where they include the word "premium", sure it may attract a user to view the thread, but I think many webmasters don't know the true meaning of a premium domain name.

For me, it is a very valuable domain name (eg one word domain name, or something very brandable, easy to remember, pronounceable etc.)

What do you think?

From my point of view "premium" domain means it's in the high demand and meets at least these requirements:

- must be main TLD like com, co.uk...
- one popular word (no misspellings of any kind) or
- easy to pronounce brandable abbreviation no more than 4 letters (no digits or hyphens)

Anything else may seem valuable to the owner and even have some potential buyers but in no case should be called premium...

I agree with Skinners definition, just a few recap:
- it needs to be an desirable domain extension (you cannot call .ws or .temi or some other obscured extension premium)
- It should be a generic name (not a name that can get you into trademark/copyright problem)
- I would say its still okay if its more than 4 letters provided its a well known word for example I will call bargain.co.uk a premium domain name eventhought its more than 4 letters.

-some experts said no longer than 14 letters
- no digits or hyphens
- score +400
for more info check premiumdomains.com, sometimes it could bemore than one word (onlinecasino)
- it could be any extension but it needs time to get value (poker.cc) for sale at sedo at 10k
if you have casino.ws you are a true winner, car.ws , some words can be fit any extension but price is always different , .com is always the king net,co.uk are good too ,thats all i can say about premium domains , if you need any help to sell your domains , feel free to pm me

Yes Temi, you are correct. My 4 letters limit is for the abbreviated domains only, something like "UKWW" for example...

For me it is the short easy names with no hyphens on a .com or local extension, so for me being in the UK, the .co.uk

Also, names that are in context with the purpose/products of the site.

It should be domain with .com extension, should be of 2 Or max three letters.
I see that ss.com is being got a million dollar bid on another forum, So a single domain like that will make u rich

The definition of "premium" domains is getting loosened up over time. I see garbage domains that I threw away a few years back now have "premium" price tags..

premiumdomains.com seems to be a legit valuation service...they partner with SEDO and allow their designated premium domains they select to be listed at SEDO as such
i sent 75 domains for their valuation and only 1 came back as premium....based on that i feel they are selective and careful about what qualifies as a true "premium" domain
