What was your first site?

Following on from the numbers of site we have, how about our first sites? my first website was Gamesareus - Computer and Video Games , it cost about £200 ($400) to register it, thosed days domain name registration were very expensive, I think it was 1998.

I don't need the domain any more but I kep it renewed; you never forget your first love


This days, it cost me about £3.50 to register a .com and £2.5 to register a .co.uk

Temi didn't you own velnet where if you bought a domain you could have free hosting? all the way back then in 1998?

Blimey, I did no know you knew me that well OWG, yes, gamesareus actually predates Velnet by a few months I think before I was able to source the free hosting that Velnet provided then in partnership with a company called Telinco, which was eventually bought by World Online, which was they bought by Tiscali, then another bloody company called 36K or some daft name who then fucked up the system

Here is a bit of notoriety for you then Temi. I built my first commercial website (for someone other than myself) and hosted it on Velnet. It was a Uk limousine website, and it went in at number 1 on Altavista etc. for the term 'stretch limousines' That was when I SERIOUSLY got into SEO and working out how the Search Engine Algorithms worked.

My first website was Keresõmarketing | Keresõoptimalizálás. When I launched it contained a lot shameful seo technique, and had a laughable design. It was a year ago, now it's a little better

Nice to know you have "grown up" since then Bagi, my first site was designed using FrongPage I was very proud of it then but now when I see it I feel embarrased
